Introduction

Welcome!

"We cannot win this battle to save species and environments without forging an emotional bond between ourselves and nature as well —for we will not fight to save what we do not love."

Stephen Jay Gould (1942-2002)
Harvard Biologist

All of us use different items in our day to day life that use electricity, fossil fuels, and other renewable and non-renewable resources in our day to day lives.   What we are beginning to understand is the impact that our use of fossil fuels and other dirty fuels have on our environment and our existence on the Earth.   As you have learned over the course of this past unit on pollution, there are many different effects that pollution has on our environment and our lives.  Below are two major categories of the effect of pollution.

  1. Disrupts ecosystems
  2. Cause adverse health effects

The reason that you have been call here today is to begin the process of developing a city that is best for your lives and the environment.  You have been selected by a committee to begin the planning process of a city that will improve all of our lives.   You have been chosen to build that city.  You will be competing with the groups around you and the best design will be chosen and built to scale to show to the committee for acceptance.

Good Luck!
